Who We Are

The Program

The Peacekeepers program is a Community Action Plan designed to help keep the peace in a community that is plagued by crime including those involving guns and knives. We do this by recruiting, training and organising people to walk and patrol the communities, in which they live, meeting our youth where they are within these areas and shifting the paradigm of thought in our communities to the reality that we can change our neighborhoods.

Aims Objectives and Goals

 Design and Implement a new intervention that approaches violence in a different way than other violence reduction efforts  Focus on street-level outreach, conflict mediation, and the changing of community norms to reduce violence and crime.

 Train outreach recruits called to promote alternatives to violence and instill positive change in our communities. Similar to the practice of “ahimsa” (the principal of non-injury of living beings).

 Act in a proactive manner by going as volunteers, into designated communities and deterring unwanted crime and violent behavior

 Facilitate the natural inclination of men to maintain and protect their women, children, elders and community as a whole.

 Being positive mentors for the young men within our communities, thus we hope to recruit them to become a Peacekeeper.

Our goal is to stabilise the targeted communities within the first 6 months. Upon stabilisation, collaborations with active organizations that service community based concerns, we feel need to be addressed, will be endorsed by the Peacekeepers. They will be encouraged to service the communities we stabilize through any of the following six workgroups:

 Faith Based

 Human Services

 Neighborhood Associations

 Political Action

 Youth

Our men must take back the streets and make the community once again safe for our women and children.’Capt. Dennis
